Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Black Irish XXX is a full bodied thick black twist made from dark fired leaf spun into a heavy rope using a traditional process going back centuries. It is steamed and cooked under pressure to turn it black and remove the stronger tar and nicotine characters turning into a mellower smoke than brown twist. A cool mellow smoke, there is still plenty of flavour and nicotine,  this is one recommended for experienced smokers. Twist and Rope tobaccos have a double purpose. In the 19th & 20th century smoking was prohibited in the pits so the miners would chew the tobacco to release the nicotine.
